Hello, Oleg, it`s nice to meet you here. Can you tell us please how did you become an artist and web designer ?
When and were I started web designing I don’t already remember. Being a usual offline magazine designer, I had a hobby – some activity in Internet. Just after I had got acquainted with the thing called net.art in 1998.
Having placed your new site in Internet you probably receive a lot of letters. What is the most popular subject of them?In the first place Ex conclave obscuri.
In the second place, a little behind – Ex disclamat.
In the third place – We want smart.
Now you are an art director of one of the Russian web studios. Is it difficult for you to work with young designers?
No, not very much. There are almost no problems after my colleges presented me a salty whip and several powerful magic pentacles for my birthday. I am very grateful to them for this present.
If Internet would disappear suddenly and forever, what will you do?
I think I would be crying for six days, and on the seventh day I would write a gloomy surrealistic novel with a strange schizophrenically plot about things which would take place, in case all the people were united by the global computer net.
What would you advice to those who only make their first steps in web design?
It difficult to answer because I don`t know at all what the other people are like. May be it is necessary simply to sit and work in this branch for several years. If after these several years their enthusiasm will be the same, it means that this person should go on with the designing business, because he is not fit to nothing.
What do you do in your spare time?
I always work
If you had a possibility to use a time machine what time will you go to and why?
One minute ahead – only with the purpose of confusing the demon attached to me.
As far as I know you have a son? Do you know what will he do in future?
He is going to follow the steps of Gordon Freeman and to save mankind from the oppression of Combine organization.
How do you like the situation in Russia? I think that you receive not few propositions to work abroad. Didn`t you have a wish to go to Europe or to the United State?

Is there sometimes a situation in your life when everything is had? You have no wish to work. How will you behave yourself in such a situation?
I don`t want to look a liar but I can`t be in such a situation, I can`t even imagine how it may be. I am afraid of that hard time which will evidently come when everything is bad. I hope if this time comes, then my ready-made methods – abstention, lent and prayer and ritual scarification will work. The main thing – no walking outside, no music, no drugs, no excursions about designer`s portals. Abstention, lent and prayer and ritual scarification will work.
And how will you know if the work is finished or not? You have always some more time to spend for it and make it ideal? How does it happen in your case? May be in a day you will look at it and it will seem to you that it is necessary to work more?
Usually some indirect circumstances which nothing common with the process of creation of the work , for example, a wish to publish your work, becomes stronger than the perfectionism or simply comes deadline. In any case I seldom (if the obligations for the customer don`t demand it) return to the ready work again, because the other project disturbing me first of all.
Wat is your opinion to the fact that after the long hours of work the client will not like it and he asks you to draw something else?
From such a situation I am reliably guarded by the policy of the Artemiy Lebedev Studio which is hiring me, and putting the client into the situation of choice: to get this design without changes or to stop the relations.
Do you think that web designer must know the main principles of programming? If so, then why?
Yes, he must, because the programming code is the same art material like clay, oily paints and pixels.
